Well, I am one of the fools that had grief with the flex a lite fan, ran a 495. I did like the bracketry, did like the easy hookup, and really impressed with the amount of air moved. I tend to think that the electric fans really wont tax a stock altenator that much either, considering the size of the alt in a volvo/ford vs a truck too. In retrospect I think I would have been happy keeping the engine fan and just getting a new clutch for it. I did notice a little more pep in the truck, and better mileage (1mpg), the a/c does work better, and combined with my bigger trans cooler, I have kept temps way down in the engine. It sounds like the ford/volvo option is a good one, I would reccomend some sort of manual controls in the cab (wanting it on or off for water crossings) and a better temp gauge in case anything does go south, you will be able to know about it right away...
