Yes, Standard Automotive type "Starting" batteries have high cranking amp capacity. True "Deep Cycle" batteries are made for long slow discharges and recharges. It will not hurt to use a deep discharge as a starting battery, it will however need to be physically larger to deliver a similar cranking amp capacity as a "Starting" battery. Typically Deep Cycle batteries are more expensive than starting batteries.
