I'm fitting out a new 4D56T engine that doesn't have a dipstick guide tube, so I'm fabricating one. What I need to know is the length of the tube from the top to the point where it meets the engine. This is critical because the dipstick needs to descend to the correct depth in the crankcase. Would one of you guys be willing to measure the length of the dipstick guide tube on a 4D56 (or 4D55) for me and send it along? Many thanks.

Ah, I wish I had seen this yesterday, I had my dipstick tube out to fix a leak! I'll see if I can still get you a measurement though (4d55).

I measured about 38cm, but I don't think this was very accurate, as it is not easy to get a measuring tape there.

Still, I think the lenght may be different depending on the model; I lost my dipstick once, when I went looking for one I found at least three different dipstick sizes for the 4D56.

Muchas grßcias por la informaci¾n. This certainly complicates things. Maybe the best I can do is fill the crankcase with the specified amount of oil, then construct a guide tube that keeps the dipstick at the proper level.
